#ManchesterUnited transfer news: Jose Mourinho set to make move for Real Madrid centre-half Raphael Varane

Manchester United are interested in signing Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane this summer, according to Sky Sports.

He has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford after admitting he loves working with Jose Mourinho and speculation has only grown as he looks set to leave Real Madrid.

Varane has been a long-term target of the Portuguese boss as he hopes to strengthen his defensive options this summer with another central defender a likely purchase following the club’s injury crisis this season.

He claimed he’s looking for a club that will give him first-team minutes and it’s a massive boost as United could finally land their man.

Mourinho tried to bring him to Old Trafford last summer when he initially took over from Louis van Gaal, but Varane was committed to making his future work at Madrid under Zinedine Zidane.

United will be looking for a new defender this summer to partner Eric Bailly and Mourinho will be trying to push through a deal for Varane as he builds a side capable of challenging for silverware in the Premier League and Champions League.
