Analysis of Wizkid- Come Closer Video

Reigning King of Africa Music Wizkid- Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun finally dropped the most anticipated video in recent times and it certainly lived up to the taste of the Social media world as the video is currently trending.

The video has gotten the tongues of haters wagging while fans are also pondering on what I feel was a deliberate effort by Wizkid and Internationally recognized act Drake as Wizkid was missing in One dance video in which Drake featured  Wizkid and now Drake is nowhere to be found in Wizkid’s Come Closer video in which Wizkid featured Drake.
However, if I am wrong and it isn’t deliberate, one thing is sure the voices of the two artiste can be heard and there is surely an intent to work together and a chemistry between both whether short distance or long distance.
Wizkids recent deal with Sony/RCA seems to be serious business as Sony/RCA digital and radio push has been nothing short of breathtaking so far, marking Wizkid‘s official “cross-over” to the American market. The song which is still buzzing on itunes nationwide chart is slowly turning into Another Wizkid/Drake collaboration hit.
Though a zebras present and Drake is missing, the video tries to add to the always existing mad ladies or female vixens in Nigerian videos, a new concept as a touch of African wear and fabric is brought in. Wizkid also tries to make up for Drakes absence as he kits up in a similar all clothing as Drake and dances in the steps of Drake.

However, more work could still have been done to make the video lit. The video is directed by DAPS. The number ‘Come Closer’ is a blend of afrobeat, reggae music.
