Billionaire and businessman David Rockefeller dies in his sleep, as a result of congestive heart failure, aged 101
David Rockefeller died on Monday morning at his home in Pocantico Hills, N.Y. He was 101.
He was the last in the generation of famed Rockefeller family controlled Chase Manhattan bank for more than a decade, though the family never owned more than 5 percent of its shares and last surviving grandson of John D. Rockefeller, the tycoon who founded the Standard Oil Company in the 19th century and built a fortune that made him America’s first billionaire and his family one of the richest and most powerful in America’s history.
A family spokesman, Fraser P. Seitel who confirmed the death says he died peacefully in his sleep Monday morning at his home in Pocantico Hills, New York.
