- Properly file your nails
- Push cuticles with the help of an orange stick
- Buff nails

The second step to getting beautiful nail art is to apply your base coat.
The third step starts once the base coat dries completely. Apply a coat of pink polish and purple polish (on ring finger). Repeat this twice.
To create a chevron tip,
Take the purple polish and apply it diagonally from the left side of the nail.
- Fill in the remaining part of the nail below the diagonal
- Repeat the same stroke from the right side of the nail (as shown in right picture).
Now let it dry and if necessary, repeat the process to apply a second coat. Remember, on the ring finger, create the chevron tip using pink polish. This is what your nails would look like thereafter
The next step is to use a toothpick and dip it in the white polish. Place some big white dots on tips of your nails. The picture below showcases how the dots would look.
Give a good finishing touch to the dots. Dip a toothpick in pink polish and draw a dot inside each white dot on all fingers except the ring finger. Use a purple polish for the ring finger. The picture below shows how the dots would look.

Start with a base coat and then apply Hong Kong and Victoria by Tips and Toes and half and half on all nails except the middle one. On the middle finger use half matte white ( I am using Gaits No. 25) and half swipe Victoria from sides to bottom.
Use a sponge and sponge up all the Hong Kong Pink Part with glitter silver polish. I am using the glitter silver one from Revlon Street Wear. Leave the middle finger nail as it is.
Cut out strips of newspaper, use a deo spray on the Victoria Portions of all the nails (also on the side, swiping part leaving the white portion alone on middle finger) and wet the newspaper strips one by one using deodorant. Then wrap around each nail and carefully take the print out with a rolling motion and slight pressure with the other hand’s thumb. Pull out gently.
Use a nail art brush and draw some twigs with black polish, and then some small uneven flowers with dark red or maroon polish.
On the white part of the middle finger ( Robin Moses painted a Geisha doll) I have taken the picture of a girl’s face by stamping from Image plate no M4. After that I have done some detailing, with my nail art brush and black color (elle18 black), added 2 dots of light and dark pink with the end of a toothpick on to the hair to make a flower with a tiny dot in the center. The dress is made with black, golden and red colors. And yes, I have also colored the lips red carefully with the nail art brush. This is what i like to call the geisha doll nail.
This is how it looks without top coat.

How To Make Nail Art Last Longer?
Doing nail art on your nails can be a tedious job and how much time can it last – a few days maximum. But how to make nail art last longer?
How long does nail art last depends on many factors like application, technique, materials used, wear and tear and importantly the base. Here are some tips and tricks that will make nail painting a pleasure and what’s more important – the result will last longer!
Before painting your nails, dip your fingers in cider-, or apple vinegar for a few minutes and allow them to dry naturally. The polish will stick to your fingernails and not to the natural oil on the surface of these.
Another method would be to remove all the residue and oil from your nails with soaking your hands in lukewarm, soapy water and scrubbing them slightly with a cloth. The nail polish will be applied on a clean and dry surface.
You can also soak your nails into lemon juice for about 8-10 minutes; it will instantly brighten your nails and banish yellowness.
Applying a base coat is essential in order to protect the nail from staining – highly recommended by the nail specialists.
Apply your nail polish in thin coats – if applied in thick layers, your polish will only peel. Let these layers dry naturally, give some time for coats to adhere to your nails.
The applied top coat can be hardened – after finishing your nail polishing soak your hands into cold water for several minutes.
If you are using nail embellishments like rhinestones etc. use nail glue to stick them and apply top coat generously.
You can also increase the life of the nail art, if you apply a thin coat of topcoat every day. It might seem too demanding however it is worth trying.
Shaking the nail polish bottle is forbidden as it only makes it full of air bubbles – instead, roll it between your palms. This is most important point…if you have bubbles in your nail polish the nail art will not look pretty.
To make base nail polish of your nail art last longer especially on the tips of your nails, brush it across the tips horizontally.
If you have done some easy design of nail art using lots of rhinestones etc. then avoid using your nails as tools, instead use the pads of your fingers when you grab, reach or type.
Finally moisturize your hands daily in order to prevent the nail polish/nail art from cracking; if your hands are dry, polish is prone to deteriorating. If you wish you can use olive oil as a natural moisturizer. You can also use cuticle oil for healthy nails and cuticles.
Allow the nail color to dry for a longer time. Giving it a plenty of dry time makes the color or the nail art last for long time.
Hope the next time you make a nail art, may you follow these golden tips to last the nail art long enough to worth the effort and time taken during the application. If you have any more tips, please share by commenting below.
